Every year, we receive a new DC Pride compilation by an assortment of LGBTQ+ talent in the comic book industry. They work with their favorite characters who represent them, characters who are and aren’t at the forefront of DC Comics like they could be. It would be easy to rest on the laurels of previous editions, but DC Pride 2025 tries something different this year.
Minor spoilers for DC Pride 2025: this is your fair warning for something you’ll notice rather quickly. This isn’t a compilation of stories, but rather a single, continuous storyline that connects the past experiences of many LGBTQ+ characters in DC with a threat from one famous hero’s past. It does somewhat retain the vignettte format of previous years, but does so while weaving a touching and heartbreaking story throughout.
In previous years, it sometimes felt like a contest between which writer could come up with the best pitch for a comic they would write about whichever character they chose. This time, the large and talented creative team came up with a way to play to their strengths, the strengths of their characters, and make it firmly about the shared journey of the LGBTQ+ community.
DC Pride issues are always beautiful, but this one certainly stands out from the rest. It’s not one you should miss.

I missed last year’s DC Pride issue due to a lack of time and personal drama, but if you want to see what I thought of previous years, read my review for DC Pride #2023.
